Brenda Rae Bowden DeLarm
February 28, 1942 – December 26, 2016
Brenda R. DeLarm, 74, of Oxford Junction, Iowa, passed away on Monday morning, December 26, 2016 at Iowa Regional Medical Center in Anamosa, Iowa.
A celebration of Brenda’s life was held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 30, 2016, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Visitation was held prior to the service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Cremation followed the service and burial will be at a later date in the Union Cemetery rural Maquoketa, Iowa.
Brenda Rae Bowden was born on February 28, 1942, in Davenport, Iowa to Ellsworth and Evelyn (Towne) Bowden. She attended Delmar schools and graduated from Delmar High School. She married Charles Ronald DeLarm on March 11, 1961, in Clinton, Iowa. He preceded her in death on March 15, 2015.
Brenda had worked as a nurses’ aide prior to becoming a cook at Camp Courageous for several years. She loved cooking, canning, knitting, latch hooking and studying the Bible. She was blessed to be an ordained minister. She especially loved family genealogy and writing letters to her many pen pals.
Those left to honor Brenda’s memory include her children, Eugene (Laura) DeLarm of Wauzeka, Wisconsin, Janella Lea DeLarm of Charles City, Iowa, and Ronald DeLarm of Maquoketa, Iowa; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren with one on the way; a sister, Jodena Dittman of Wauzeka, Wisconsin and former daughter-in-law Amy DeLarm of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband.
