Phyllis Pauline Brown Clampitt

Phyllis P. Clampitt, 79, of Monmouth, Iowa, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2015, at Manor Care in Davenport, Iowa.
A gathering of family and friends celebrating the life of Phyllis will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., Monday, March 30, 2015, at the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Cremation will follow the gathering and burial will be in the South Mineral Cemetery, rural Onslow, at a later date.
Phyllis Pauline Brown was born on March 5, 1936 in Manchester, Iowa to William G. and Violet Mae (Thomas) Brown. She spent her early years in Anamosa and married Louis Clampitt on April 30, 1955 in Iowa City, Iowa. He preceded her in death on September 2, 2010.
Phyllis had worked for Anamosa Silos for two years and then became a homemaker raising a family of eight children. Outside of her family, she loved, dogs, horses and western movies.
Those left to honor her memory include her eight children: Connie (Don) Black of Maquoketa, Linda Peterkin of Clinton, Maryland, Diana Hatcher of Cedar Rapids, Kelly (Tom) Horst of Miles, Julie Schumacher of Arizona, Kathy (Art) Elmegreen of Delmar, Russell Clampitt of Monmouth, and Roxanne (Ron) Ingram of Elkhart; sixteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; brothers William Brown of Cedar Rapids, Allen Brown of Columbus Junction, Keith Brown of Oxford Junction, and Ronald Brown of Maquoketa; and sisters Lois Hart of Cedar Rapids, Marilyn Ellison of Cedar Rapids, and Joyce Hurley of Cedar Rapids. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother Jerald, sisters Betty, Norma, Sherly and Ella, and a grandchild Holly.
