| ANOTHER OLD SOLDIER GONE
William H. Bruce was born March 15, 1842 in Jackson, Huntington County, Penns., and died April 13, 1909 near Fremont, Cass Township, Jones County, Iowa, aged 67 years and 28 days. He was married to Jennie Burlingham January 4, 1872 at Marion, Iowa. He enlisted in the Army in 1861 and served his country faithfully till the close of the war. He leaves to mourn his loss a loving wife and ten children, one dying in infancy. Mr. Bruce was a kind husband, loving father and good neighbor and will be greatly missed. All were present at his death but his son Lem, who resides in Dakota. Funeral services were conducted at the home by Rev. W. R. Bundy, of the Congregational Church of Cass on the 15th, with interment in the Cass Center Cemetery.
