Alberta M. Busching Lawson

Alberta M. Lawson, 87, of Olin, Iowa, died Monday, February 22, 2010, at the Clarence Nursing Home, Clarence, Iowa.
A celebration of her life was held on Friday, February 26, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at Olin Community Methodist Church, with Pastor Pat Slater officiating. Burial was in the Olin Cemetery, Olin, Iowa. Friends called from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Lahey Funeral Home, Olin.
Alberta M. Busching was born December 2, 1922, in Stanwood, Iowa, to Henry C. and Florentine (Niermeyer) Busching. She graduated from Stanwood High School in 1940 and attended Tipton Jr. College and Iowa Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She married Arno R. Lawson on December 30, 1942, in Bloomington, Indiana. They made their home in Olin for the past 64 years. He died on December 26, 2003.
She taught school in Bennett, Iowa, worked as a bookkeeper in Norfolk, Virginia during WWII, and assisted her husband as a bookkeeper at Lawson Insurance Agency. In earlier years, was a payroll clerk at Olin Consolidated School.
She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Women of St. Paul's, American Legion Auxiliary, and a longtime Federated Club Member in Olin.
She is survived by two nephews, Jim (Glenda) Lawson of Olin, and Steven (Janette) Baker of Bemidji, Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Alice Lawson, brother-in-law, Fred Lawson, and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Harr.
