Franklin Pierce Byerly
February 10, 1855 – June 11, 1931
Franklin Pierce Byerly was born in Mercer County, Pennsylvania, February 10, 1855, and died on Thursday, June 11, near Onslow, Iowa, in the 77th year. His parents were John Byerly and Catherine Klingensmith Byerly. The family came to Jones county, Iowa, in 1865 and settled on a farm near Onslow. Frank remained at home on the farm until reaching his majority. He then married Miss Alice Waggoner, a resident of Jones county. They made their home in this county except for two years spent in Kansas. For many years the home was in the western part of Anamosa and this continued to be the home until the death of Mrs. Byerly and the declining health of Mr. Byerly. For some time he has been with relatives near Onslow. There were three children born to them, and all preceded the parents in death. He is survived by one brother, John H.of Onslow, one sister, Mrs. Emma Hood of Burlington, and a large circle of distant relatives in Jones county.
Funeral services were held at the Bride Funeral Home June 14. Rev. E. A. Schlaman officiating. Burial was at Forest Hill cemetery.
