Willard Byerly dies suddenly July 1

Willard E Byerly, 52, Anamosa. died Thursday, July 1, 1976 at the Anamosa Community hospital of an apparent heart attack. He had been at the hospital since Sunday.
Masonic services were held at Goettsch Funeral home on Friday, July 2 by the Anamosa Lodge No 46 AF and AM of which he was a member.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m on Saturday, July 3 at the United Methodist church in Anamosa with the Rev Brown Garlock officiating. Burial was in Riverside cemetery with military rites by the American Legion.
Mr Byerly was born in Anamosa on May 16, 1924, the son of Loyal and Ellen Finnigan Byerly. He graduated from Anamosa high school in 1941 and married Esther Byers on March 12, 1944.
He served in World War II. He enlisted in the navy in 1942 and was discharged in 1945, was in the national guard until 1968 and the naval reserve until 1959.
He was employed by REC for 26 years.
In addition to his wife, Esther, he is survived by three children, Mrs. William (Pam) Himebaugh of Waterloo, two sons, Bruce of Cedar Rapids and Warren of Marion, two grandsons and his parents, Mr and Mrs Loyal Byerly.
Pallbearers were Jack Fisk, Robert George, Laverne Fulwider, Tom Reiter, Joe Lazio and Nick Nassif.
