Marilyn Lorraine Calloway Eggers

Marilyn Eggers, age 79, died Friday, November 29, 2013 at the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, December 2, 2013, at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa, where friends called after 1:00 p.m. Rev. Laurie Riley officiated at the service.
Marilyn Lorraine Calloway was born June 18, 1934, at Monmouth, Iowa. She was the daughter of Leonard and Mara (Shirk) Calloway. Marilyn attended the Sutton Grade School and graduated as Valedictorian of the class of 1952 from the Onslow Community School.
She married Harold Eggers on June 20, 1953, at the United Methodist Church in Anamosa. Marilyn was employed as an operator at Northwestern Bell in Anamosa and later in Cedar Rapids. From 1971 until 1974, she was also employed at City National Bank in Cedar Rapids. Marilyn started working for the Iowa Liquor Commission in 1974, and was a store manager in Monticello from 1976 until 1987. She retired after working at Phar-Mor in Marion in the liquor department.
Marilyn was a member of the Anamosa Hospital Auxiliary and helped to campaign for the new hospital. She also belonged to Wapsi Country Club and Epsilon Mothers Club. She enjoyed playing bridge, golfing and bowling.
Surviving are four children, Connie Folken, Cedar Rapids, David Egger and his friend Elsie, Langworthy, Mary (Mike) Hospadarsky, Marion, Todd Eggers, Monticello; two grandsons, Ben Folken and Dillon Eggers; and three sisters, Vivian Hay-Moran, Paradise, California, Maxine Von Sprecken, Anamosa, and Carol Matthews, Miami, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, Richard Harold, her husband Harold in 1969, and a step-brother, James Holmes.
