Amber June Cole Herman
June 9, 1934 – April 20, 2017
Amber Herman, 82, of Tipton formerly of Anamosa and Manchester, died Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Cedar Manor Nursing Home, in Tipton following an extended illness.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held from 2 – 4 p.m. Sunday, April 23, 2017, at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa.
Surviving are five children, James (Cindy) of Oxford Junction, Ronald of Hopkinton, Sharon (Stuart) Clark of Tipton, Donald (Lucia) of Anamosa and Sherly (Duane) McDonald of Anamosa; thirteen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; and her sister, Lelis (Sheldon) Knuth of Eureka Springs, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, David; grandson, David V.; and two brothers.
Amber June Cole was born June 9, 1934, in Manchester. She was the daughter of John and Flossie (Clendenen) Cole. Amber attended school in Greeley and later the Oneida High School. Amber married Albert Herman in April of 1951. She worked as a waitress at various cafes and at the bakery in Manchester. She also helped her husband with his plumbing business. She moved to Anamosa in 1998 and her health caused her to move to the care center in 2012.
When she was able, Amber loved to go fishing. She enjoyed time spent with family and friends. Her smile would light up a room.
