Maxine Belva Current Eby
October 19, 1928–February 24, 2015
Maxine Eby, age 86, died Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at University Hospitals, Iowa City following a sudden illness.
Private family services were held Saturday afternoon, February 28, 2015, with interment at the Scotch Grove Cemetery. Rev. Al Polito officiated at the services. Friends called from 5 until 7 Friday at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello.
Surviving are her husband, Harold, her daughter, Sally (David) Siebels; two grandchildren, Teresa (Jason Paulsen) Siebels, Justin (Amber McElmeel) Siebels; and two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Tanner Felton, all of Monticello. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Jimmy and Roger.
Maxine Belva Eby was born October 19, 1928 at Maquoketa, Iowa. She was the daughter of Max and Dorothy (Wink) Current. Maxine graduated from the Maquoketa Community Schools. She worked at the Ben Franklin Store in Maquoketa.
Maxine and Harold Eby were married on December 14, 1947 at Maquoketa. In 1948 they moved to a farm east of Scotch Grove and farmed there until 2005 when they moved to Monticello. Maxine always liked operating the tractors on the farm.
Maxine had been a 4-H Leader for the Scotch Grove Sunshine Girls, and a member of the Oak Drive Club. She and Harold had enjoyed spending many winters in Texas.
