| Doris Jean Fye, 84, of Crestview Acres, died there Thursday, July 17, 2009 following a lingering illness. Services were at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Teahen Funeral Home by Intern Pastor Erika Uthe of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Burial was in the Wyoming Cemetery, Wyoming, Iowa. Friends visited Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home and also after 9 a.m. on Tuesday.
Doris is survived by three nephews, Steven Petersen of Walford, Tom Fye and Dale (Helen) Fye of Cedar Rapids; four nieces, Sue Williams and Laurie (Doug) Lowe of Cedar Rapids, Jodi (Don) Uhing of Blair, NE, Patricia (Eugene) Ulrich of TX; brother-in-law, John "Heinie" Petersen, and many other nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Lloyd, parents, sister Darlene Petersen and Niece Rebecca Grove, precedes Doris in death.
Doris was born July 6, 1925 in Clinton the daughter of R. Howard Day and Rose Schultz. She married Lloyd Fye on November 20, 1955 in Wyoming. She worked for Penford Products as a PBX Operator.
Doris was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, VFW Auxiliary #788 and the Penford Retireees.
She enjoyed playing cards, especially pinochle, and loved spending time with her family and her cats.
