Teresa (Terry) DeSotel, 46 died Saturday April 29, 2017 at her home following a life long battle with diabetes.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 4, 2017 at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa where friends call from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday. Interment will be in the Antioch Cemetery at a later date. Rev. Clayton George officiated the services. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) or Hertko Hollow Diabetes Camp in Boone. Thoughts, memories and condolences may be left at goettschonline.com.
Surviving are two children, Jordan and Kaylee DeSotel; her parents, Dianna and Harvey DeSotel; and her significant other, J.R. Thomas, all of Anamosa; two brothers, Rob (Sara) DeSotel of Anamosa and Josh (Jennifer) DeSotel of Coggon; four nephews, Rory, Ty, Dathan and Oswell; and her paternal grandmother, Phyllis Johnson of Monticello.
She was preceded in death by two infant sons, Tyler and John, maternal grandparents, Howard and Margaret Schellin, her paternal grandfather, special friend, Janet Baftiri, and an aunt and uncle, Ken and June Schoop.
Teresa Lynn DeSotel was born January 30, 1971 at the Anamosa Hospital. She was the daughter of Harvey L. and Dianna M. Schellin, DeSotel. She graduated from the Anamosa Community Schools in 1989 and continued her education at Kirkwood College. For a number of summers, she worked at Hertko Hollow Diabetes Camp in Boone as a counselor. She was employed as a waitress at the Opera House, the Family Restaurant and Larry’s in Anamosa.
Terry loved softball and worked often as a booster for the Anamosa Girls Softball team.
