Laura Emma Dirks Snyder

Laura Emma Snyder, 86, of Onslow passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at the Anamosa (Iowa) Care Center.
Funeral services will be Monday, October 17, at 10:00 a.m. at Zion American Lutheran Church in Wyoming, Iowa. Visitation will be from 1 – 5 p.m. Sunday, October 16, at Lahey Funeral Home in Wyoming. Burial will be in the South Mineral Cemetery in rural Onslow.
Laura Emma Dirks was born on November 28, 1929, in Amber, Iowa, to George and Lena (Belkin) Dirks. She married John Snyder on October 10, 1949. She was a homemaker and a cook for the Onslow grade school. She was a member of the Zion American Lutheran Church in Wyoming.
Laura was a member of the Cozy Cotton Club. She loved to cook and bake bread and rolls. She loved spending time with family and especially enjoyed her grandkids and going to their sporting events. She also liked to ride motorcycles with her friends. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friends. She was the nicest lady in town.
Those left to cherish her memories are her five children, Dr. Thomas John (LuAnne) Snyder of Bettendorf, Nancy Ann Snyder-Giles of Wyoming, Cindy (Mike) Inglis of Wyoming, Scott (Sheryl) Snyder of Monticello, Dan (Linda) Snyder of Anamosa; eighteen grandchildren; and twenty-seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John, sister, Wilma Himbaugh; two brothers, Clarence and Willis; and one brother in infancy.
