Steve J. “Big Daddy” Dorothy

Steve J. “Big Daddy” Dorothy of Anamosa passed away Friday, May 26, 2017, at home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Steve was born November 5, 1954, to John and Eleanor (Hinz) Dorothy. He graduated from Anamosa High School in 1973 and worked at Hawkeye Ready Mix and the City of Marion, Public Works Department.
On February 5, 1978, he was united in marriage to Becky J. Weets and was blessed with their daughter, Jessica Dorothy, completing their family.
Steve was survived by his daughter, Jessica (Ryan) Miller, three grandchildren; Ethan, Isabella and Isaac, and brothers, John (Debra) Dorothy of Peoria, Illinois, Mark (Nancy) Dorothy of North Fort Myers, Florida, and Jim Dorothy of Portland, Oregon.
He was a sweet, kind hearted man, loving father and husband, who cared deeply for his family and friends. He enjoyed spending his time attending vintage car events with family and friends. He showed us how beautiful the world is through the lens of a camera.
The Celebration of Life was held on Monday, May 29, at 2 – 4 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Inurnment will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Anamosa at a later date.
