Donald Leo Ellison Jr., 79, of Wyoming, died Monday, July 23, 2018, at home.
Funeral services were held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, July 27, 2018, at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa, where the family greeted friends from 10:30 a.m. to the time of service. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Anamosa.
Donald was born December 5, 1938, in Mechanicsville, the son of Donald Leo Sr., and Althea (Capron) Ellison. He graduated from Martelle High School. On February 14, 1959, he married Shyrl Louise Ricklefs at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Anamosa. He worked in farming after the couple married and later went to work at the Krobs Elevator in Ely. He then took a job at the Vigortone Feed Company, Cedar Rapids, working there for twenty years. He retired in 2005. During retirement, he also drove for Lou Sommerville Trucking.
Don enjoyed gardening, fishing, reading – especially westerns, and working jigsaw puzzles.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Shyrl; his children, Cindy (Doug) Wiltsey, Wyoming, Danny Ellison, Louisville, Kentucky, and Teresa (Joe) Tandle, Wyoming; twelve grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; brothers, Dick (Renee), Monticello, Harold, Anamosa, Dennis (Sonya), Anamosa; sisters, Darlene (Larry) Farrington, Anamosa, Diane (Marvin) Aldrich, Cedar Rapids, and Debbie (Mike) Faber, Monticello.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Maxine Ellison; and a sister-in-law, Beverly Ellison.
