Raymond A. Ewing, 73, of Oxford Junction, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, August 3, 2016 at the Clarence Senior Living with his family by his side.
A celebration of Raymond’s life was held at 11 a.m., Monday, August 8, 2016 from St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Oxford Junction, Iowa. Visitation was held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, August 7, 2016 from the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Cremation rites have taken place. Burial will be at a later date.
Raymond Andrew Ewing was born on August 17, 1942 in Maquoketa, Iowa to Ivan and Verna (Jensen) Ewing. He graduated from the Elwood High School. He was united in marriage to Carol Jean Marr on June 30, 1962 in Maquoketa, Iowa.
Raymond had first worked for various farmers. He delivered milk and ice cream for Hayes Bros. Dairy and worked for Alcoa. He was a truck driver for over forty-five years. For thirty of those years he was an over the road driver for Malone-CRST as an owner-operator.
Raymond loved spending time with his family and especially enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s events. His favorite pastime was visiting with people, friends and strangers alike. He liked watching westerns and boxing, telling jokes, reading westerns and listening to country music.
Those left to honor Raymond’s memory include his wife, Jean of Oxford Junction, Iowa; children Michael Ewing of DeWitt, Mark Ewing of Oxford Junction, Carol (Scott) Anderson of Oxford Junction, Amy (Steve) Fishwild of Maquoketa; grandchildren Ryan, Kyle and Rylee Anderson, Zachary and Taylor Fishwild, Ethan and Faith Ewing; brothers Larry (Dee) Ewing of Oxford Junction, Jim (Pat) Peterman of Maquoketa; sisters Ruth Boock of Fulton, Illinois, Helen (Jim Ihrig) Keeney of Maquoketa, Mary (Terry) VanDePol of Ankeny, Judy (David) Koon of Maquoketa. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, Jerry Zybarth of DeWitt and a sister-in-law, Nancee Peterman of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Veronica Zybarth, a brother Paul Peterman and a brother-in-law Loren Boock.
