Clucas Faragher
June 22,1823–July 22, 1906
Mr. Clucas Faragher, one of the pioneer citizens of Jones County, died at his home, one mile south of Amber, last Sunday evening, the 22nd inst. The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, and the remains were laid to rest in Oakwood cemetery at Monticello. Mr. Faragher was 83 years old and one month old. He was born in the Isle of Man, and came to this country when a young man. In 1857, he was married to Miss Mary Merriman, a sister of the late Doctor Merriman. For a number of years the family lived North-West of Monticello, but during the past quarter of a century, the home has been Wayne Township. The deceased is survived by his widow and twelve living children. They are W. H. Faragher of California; Charles Faragher of Kansas; Mrs. Maria Green of Anamosa; Mrs. James Kairnes, of Wayne; Mrs. Anna Schwartz of Des Moines; Edward Faragher, of Wayne; Sidney Faragher and Misses Lillle, Mary and Grace, who reside on the home farm. The deceased was a law abiding honorable and honest citizen with a fine family of children to do honor to his memory and his teachings.
