Larry Douglas Fishwild
August 15, 1948 – January 9, 2016
Larry D. Fishwild, 67, of Wyoming passed away on January 9, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
To honor Larry’s life, funeral services will be held Saturday, January 16, 2016, at 10:30 at Lahey Funeral and Cremation Services in Wyoming. Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 Friday, January 15 at Lahey Funeral and Cremation Services in Wyoming. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
Larry Douglas was born on August 15, 1948 in Clinton, Iowa to Robert and Lucille (Regenwether) Fishwild. He graduated from Midland High School. On February 28, 1970 he was united in marriage to the love of his life Janet Stewart at St. John’s Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon, Iowa. He worked at Allied Glass Products for twenty-five years as a contract salesman.
He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Larry is a member of the Wyoming American Legion Post #259. He enjoyed the outdoors, nature and being in the timber cleaning up Dark Hollow. He was an avid handyman and built their cabin that they live in outside of Wyoming. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife Janet of Wyoming, two children Alisha (Tong Pil) Yi of Marion, Doug (Jennifer) Fishwild of Cedar Rapids, two beautiful granddaughters Piper Yi who is seven and Isabel Fishwild who is two weeks old, one sister Susan (Kevin) Ellison of Wyoming and a brother Ken (Shelley) Fishwild of Bellingham, Washington.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Patty in infancy, his mother-in-law and father-in-law Loren (Naomi) Stewart, a sister-in-law and brother-in-law Dorn and Karen Stewart, and a niece Marie Schmidt.
