Sandra Marie Ford Pingel
May 29, 1958 – August 9, 2020
Sandra Marie Pingel, 62, of Cleghorn, passed away Sunday, August 9, 2020, surrounded by the love of her family at Accura Health Center in Cherokee, following a four year battle with cancer.
A memorial graveside service was held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 22, 2020, at Liberty Township Cemetery, rural Meriden. Pastor Don Meyer officiated.
Sandra Marie Pingel, daughter of Harold C. and Gloria (Stadtmueller) Ford was born May 29, 1958, in Anamosa, Mercy Hospital. Her childhood years were spent in Anamosa, where she attended school and graduated in 1976. While in school, she was active in sports and music.
She then attended Iowa State University, where she met LeDen Pingel. They were united in marriage March 10, 1979 at University Lutheran Church in Ames. Following their marriage, they moved back to Cleghorn where they farmed the century farm and lived for the last forty-one years. Sandra worked for Mid-step and later Genesis Development as a direct care provider and later became site-director.
Sandra enjoyed reading, work, flowers, and gardening. She was known as a fantastic baker, liked boating, and crafts. Most of all she enjoyed time spent with family and friends.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, LeDen of Cleghorn; daughter, Rebecca (Kirby) Mosbach, and their children, Matthew, Kathleen, and Michael, all of Cherokee; son, Daniel (Renee) Pingel of Ankeny; mother, Gloria Ford of Cherokee; two brothers, Michael L. (Janiece) Ford of Hiawatha; and Blake (Judy Knock) Ford of Ely; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Harold C. Ford.
The Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee is assisting the family with arrangements.
