Robert B. "Bob" Fowler

Robert B. "Bob" Fowler, 77, of Oxford Junction, passed peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, at home.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday at Lahey Funeral Home in Oxford Junction. Funeral services and burial will be private. Burial will be held in Mayflower Cemetery, Oxford Junction, Iowa, with military honors by the American Legion Wapsi Post 473 of Oxford Junction.
The family has honored his request and the body has been cremated.
Bob was born May 17, 1931 in Oxford Junction, Iowa, the son of Harry and Elsie (Petersen) Fowler. He graduated in 1949 and entered the U. S. Marine Crops where he honorably served in the Korean Conflict.
He married Glenace Guyer on November 25, 1950 in Oxford Junction, Iowa.
He retired from city maintenance in Oxford Junction and drove school bus for 30 years before retiring with his wife in 1995.
Bob was a long time member of the Oxford Junction Volunteer Fire Department and the American Legion Wapsi Post 473 of Oxford Junction.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Glenace Fowler, a daughter, Kathy (Flower) Vacek, and a son, Rick (Karen) Fowler, all of Oxford Junction; 5 grandchildren, Rachel, Eric, Megan, Maile and Keilani; 2 great-grandchildren, Malia and Alani; one sister, Alberta Wink of Oxford Junction; one sister-in-law, Margaret Fowler of Maquoketa, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Ronald and a brother-in-law, Richard Wink.
