Marie Terese Friedrichs Fass
December 4, 1907 – October 23, 1984
Marie T. Fass Services were held Oct. 25 for Marie T. Fass, 76, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Monticello, with burial at Oakwood Cemetery. The Rev. Robert E. Slade officiated at the services.
Marie T. Fass, Monticello, died at her residence on Oct 23, 1984 of an extended illness. Marie Terese Friedrichs was born Dec. 4, 1907 in Wilmsweg, West Germany, the daughter of Friedrich and Frauke Haak Friedrichs. Marie attended the schools near her place of birth. She immigrated to the United States in September 1928, arriving on Labor Day. Marie came to the Monticello community, where she worked for several different families.
Marie Terese Friedrichs and Albert Fass were married Oct. 8, 1930 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church. The couple made their home in Lovell Township, Jones County, where they farmed. Marie became a citizen Sept. 26, 1938, at Cedar Rapids. They retired from active farming in 1968, but they continued to live on the farm.
Marie was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Monticello, where she was also a member of the Ladies Aid.
Marie is survived by her husband; three daughters, Gladys Tholen and Betty Jacobs, both of Monticello, and Marian Beggs of Ventura, California; six grand-children; a brother, Jakob Friederichs Bow of Washington; and two sisters, Ella Ricklefs and Emmi Oltmanns, both of Wilmsweg, West Germany. She was proceeded in death by her parents, a daughter, two sisters and two brothers.
