John Meyers Good, 88, died Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 16, 2012, at Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa. Pastor Laurie Riley will officiate at the service. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2012, at the funeral home. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Anamosa with military honors.
Surviving are his wife, Jeanette; children, Bobby (Connie) Barker of Campbellsville, Kentucky, Danny (Kathy) Barker of Long Mount, Colorado, Susanne Vodopich of New Port Richey, Florida, and Carla (Kerry) Barnes of Anamosa; a sister, Marguerite Mangum of Virginia; a brother, Paul; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews., and in-laws.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Lois, Mary, Lorraine and Juanita; five brothers, Welty, Isaac, Lawrence, Ray and Bobby; and a grandson, David Meyers Remington.
John Meyers Good was born December 7, 1923, in Shenandoah, Virginia. He was the son of William and Ethel Crickenberger Conn. He served his country in the United States Navy for four years during World War II deployed on a minesweeper ship. After being discharged he received his B. A. in finance. Following college he enlisted in the United States Air Force, which he served for sixteen years. After retiring from his military service he went to work for the Cedar Rapids Post Office for fourteen years.
John and Jeanette DeLite Hartwig were united in marriage November 6, 1968, in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.
John was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be missed dearly by those closest to him.
