Garry Gudenkauf

Garry Gudenkauf, 61, of Wyoming passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at the Ed and Joan Hemphill Hospice at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, September 14. at 10:30 a.m. at Zion American Lutheran Church in Wyoming, Iowa. Visitation was at Lahey Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 13 from 5 – 8 p.m. Burial was at Wyoming Cemetery.
Garry was born on October 4, 1954 in Iowa City, to Carl Jr. and Mary (Lewis) Gudenkauf. He attended Monticello High School. He married Susan Christiansen on August 7, 1976 at Zion American Lutheran Church in Wyoming.
Garry worked for many years as a truck driver. He was a past member of the Wyoming Fire Department and the Monticello Jaycees. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and driving his golf cart around to socialize. Garry also liked to watch western movies and listen to country music.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife Susan, children: Heather Gudenkauf of Monticello, Heidi (Eric) Nelson of Eldridge, Sheldon (Andrea) Hunter of Wyoming, Darcy Hunter of Wyoming; eight grandchildren, Quarrie Gudenkauf, Anthony and Alicia Sanders, Ericka Nelson, Landon, Carson, and Sophia Hunter, and Amber Hunter; sisters, Vicki Hudgins of Iowa City, Beth Gudenkauf of Marion, brothers Paul (Diane) Gudenkauf of Jesup, Jim (Charlotte) Gudenkauf of Wyoming, Rick (Cyndi) Gudenkauf of Wyoming, and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Jackie and twin brother, Larry.
