Glatha Jean Guhl Szabadi

Glatha Jean Szabadi, 67, of Fresno, California, and formerly of Olin, died Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at St. Agnes Hospital in Freno, California.
Graveside services and burial will he held on Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at Olin Cemetery, Olin, Iowa. Friends may call on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at Lahey Funeral Home in Olin.
Glatha Jean Guhl was born on October 2, 1940, in Anamosa, Iowa, daughter of Lavern F. and Anna Marie (Ohlsen) Guhl. She graduated from Olin High School in 1958 and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State University in Ames in 1962. She then attended Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, where she received her Master of Science degree and post-Masters education, which included courses in Facilitator, Team & Adult Education, with an emphasis in Leadership Quality and Staff Development.
Her entire professional career was with Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, where she held the following positions; 4-H staff associate/county 4-H agent from 1962-1970, Expanded Food & Nutrition program leader from 1971 to 1974, 4-H program leader from 1974 to 1977, 4-H program coordinator from 1977 to 1986, and staff development specialist from 1986 to 1995. She retired from Cornell University in 1995 and moved to California in 2003 to be near her two children and four grandchildren.
She is survived by one daughter, Jennifer Szabadi (& fiancé Joey Sousa) of Clovis, Calfornia; one son, Joseph L. (Dana) Szabadi of Coarsegold, California; and 4 grandchildren, Logan, Paige, Katie and Shelby.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lavern and Anna Marie Guhl and one sister, Glenda Joe Scarborough.
