| Berniece M. Ehlers, 93, of Wyoming, Iowa, died Monday morning, December 30, 2013, at Stone Hill Care Center in Dubuque, Iowa.
A public graveside service and burial celebrating Berniece's life were held at 11:30 A.M., Thursday, January 2, 2014, at the Mayflower Cemetery, Oxford Junction, Iowa. Visitation was held prior to the service from 9:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., at the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa.
Berniece Marie Hansen was born August 12, 1920 in Oxford Junction, Iowa, to Joachim and Marie Hansen. She was a 1939 graduate of Oxford Junction High School. She married Emil Ehlers on April 24, 1940 in Andrew, Iowa. He preceded her in death on October 2, 1990.
Berniece was a homemaker and had worked in the housekeeping department at the nursing home in Onslow for several years. She had also done various jobs for friends and neighbors.
Berniece enjoyed horses, flowers, gardening, spending time with family and taking care of others.
Those left to honor her memory include her children, Donna Conger of Bevier, Missouri, Shirley (Gene) Conger of Exline, Iowa, Nancy Ehlers of Wyoming, Iowa, and William "Bill" (Debra) Ehlers of Huron, South Dakota; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; three step-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Ehlers of Oxford Junction. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, six brothers, two sisters and a son, Ronald "Butch" Ehlers.
