Wilbur Hansen

Wilbur Hansen, age 89, died Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at the Anamosa Care Center following an extended illness.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 Saturday morning, November 12, 2016 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Anamosa with interment in the Wyoming Cemetery. Rev. Eugene Schipper officiated at the services. Friends called from 4 until 7 Friday at Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa.
Surviving are two children, Carol Hansen, Anamosa, and Alan (Simone) Hansen of Olin, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Helen in 2011, and eleven siblings, Alice Hughes, Helen Macek, Mable Duncalf, Evelyn Fike, Harold, Alfred, Raymond, Johnny, Willie, LeRoy and Edwin.
Wilbur D. Hansen was born November 27, 1926 at Keystone, Iowa. He was the son of Nicholas and Caroline (Selken) Hansen. Wilbur graduated from the Keystone High School in 1945. Wilbur married Helen Hansen April 20, 1958 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. Wilbur worked for Allis Chalmers at the proving ground in Marion testing heavy equipment. He was a heavy equipment operator, doing road work construction after that. Wilbur was also a crane operator during the building of the Duane Arnold Nuclear Plant. He retired as a press assembler for Rockwell Goss.
Wilbur and Helen operated the Newport Mills Campground along the Wapsipinicon River for many years.
Wilbur enjoyed coin collecting, watching the Hawkeyes, going to the Great Jones County Fair, and traveling with Helen. He was an avid bowler in his younger days.
