LeRoy E. Hanson
November 28, 1955–September 20, 2009
LeRoy E. Hanson, 53, of Wyoming, Iowa, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2009, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, after a sudden illness.
A public graveside service and burial was held on Thursday, September 24, 2009, at 4:00 p.m. at the Mayflower Cemetery in Oxford Junction. Lahey Funeral and Cremation Services in Wyoming was in charge of arrangements.
LeRoy was born November 28, 1955, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Edwin J. Hanson and Betty (Blahnik) Hanson. He graduated from Jefferson High school in Cedar Rapids in 1974 and moved to the family farm seven miles southeast of Wyoming, Iowa.
LeRoy was employed at Dyna Gear in Maquoketa for over 20 years and at John Deere for several years. He also worked for over a year at MediPlast in Monticello. He was a machinist, tool grinder, lathe operator and CNC. He was also a carpenter who built and wired his own garage to perfection.
He enjoyed movies, auctions, and fixing computers. He was known as "Mr. Fix It" who could fix or make anything that came his way. LeRoy was a strong, honest, kind and warm hearted person whose greater joy came from giving to others.
Surviving are his mother, Betty Hanson of Wyoming; one sister, Sue Ellyn Hanson of Olin; two brothers, Edwin W. Hanson and Joseph Hanson, both of Wyoming; a niece, Autumn Hergert of Olin; a nephew, Wesley Lewis of Iowa City; and a special friend, Karen Brown of Bellevue.
He was preceded in death by his father, his grandparents, and a niece, Ashley Lewis.
