| Ed R. Haptonstall, 61, of Onslow died Saturday evening, August 30, 2014 at the Jones Regional Medical Center in Anamosa. Memorial services for Ed were held on September 3 at 2:00 p.m. at Lahey Funeral Home in Oxford Junction. Friends called after noon Wednesday at the funeral home.Edward was born February 5, 1953, son of Alton and Blanche Joanne (Stanton) Haptonstall. He married Linda Lacey on February 15, 2002 in Nebraska; she survives.Ed served honorable in the US Army for eighteen years, and was currently working as a welder with Welter Storage and Equipment in Monticello.He enjoyed target shooting on the range, hunting, fishing, trapping, and spending time in the outdoors. Most of all he loved to spend time with his grandchildren.Surviving are his wife Linda of Onslow, daughter Gail Haptonstall of Anamosa, four stepchildren; Brian Marr of Oxford Junction, Gary (Kelly) Marr of Hudson, Iowa, Dennis (Linda) Marr of Elizabeth, Colorado, and Kimberly (Jeremy) Krutzfeld of Oxford Junction; six grandchildren, and two brothers, John (Eloise) Haptonstall of Smithland, and Bob of Sioux City.He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
