Etta Maria Harms
August 4, 1854–September 15, 1910
Mrs. Etta Maria Harms, the wife of Bernhard Harms, died at her home, a short distance from Monticello, last Thursday, the 15th inst. , after an illness of seven weeks , of stomach trouble. Her husband employed several physicians, and they did all that might be possible to restore her to health, but their skill was in vain. Mrs. Harms was but a little past 56 years of age . Her maiden name was Harms, and she was born in Butferde, Hanover, Germany, August 4, 1854. She was married at the place of her birth, March 9, 1879, to John Bernhard Harms, who survives her. They came to America in 1894 and settled in Wayne Township, near Monticello,. She is survived by six children viz: John P; Oltman; Bernhard; and Seibelt Harms; Mrs. Rienault Darrow; Mrs. Katrina Zimmerman. The funeral services were conducted by the Rev. C. Mardorf at the German Lutheran Church of Wayne Township, last Sunday. Mrs. Harms was a member of that church. She was a christian woman who had the esteem of a wide circle of acquaintances, amply shown by the large attendance at the funeral.
