Susanna Mary Hasler Ellison
September 23, 1935 – December 3, 2018
Susanna Ellison, 83, died Monday, December 3, 2018, at St. Luke’s Unity Point Hospital, following a brief illness.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Saturday morning, December 8, 2018, at Peace Church, where friends called at 10 a.m. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery at a later date. Pastor Mike Cleeton officiate at the services. Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, has taken Susanna and her family into their care.
Surviving is her husband, Richard; a son, Tony (Tammy); six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and seven siblings, Esther Kirby, Martha Lantermans, P.J. (Betty) Hasler, Ken (Bev Harms) Hasler, Jim Hasler, Lester (Yolanda) Hasler and Robert (Sharon) Hasler. She was preceded in death by her parents, and three children, Jody, Terri and Tracey.
Susanna Mary Hasler was born September 23, 1935, in Monticello. She was the daughter of James and Katherine (Meyer) Hasler. Susie graduated from the Monticello Community Schools with the class of 1954. She married Richard Ellison on September 26, 1954, at the Evangelical Reform Church. She was employed at Teadrows Sweet Shop and in more recent years at Asgrow Seed in Anamosa. For most of her life, Susie was a mom and farm wife.
She enjoyed sewing, quilting and crocheting. She crocheted blankets, afghans for everyone in the family. She and her daughter, Terry, made quilts for hospice. She was a caring and loving person who was always there to help.
