Terry James Haverly

Terry Haverly, 81, died Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House, Hiawatha.
Funeral Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday morning, March 26, 2018, at the United Methodist Church, Anamosa. Friends called from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa. Rev. Marty Schumacher officiated at the services. Military Honors were accorded at the church by the United States Army and the Anamosa Veterans.
Surviving is his wife, Joan; four children, Tami Haverly, the Dominican Republic, Kipp (Kim) Haverly, Martelle, Kyle (Carla) Haverly and Kory (Jenny) Haverly, Anamosa; and six grandchildren, Rebecca, Elizabeth, Kenyon, Kole, Keaton and Kylee. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Terry James Haverly was born February 22, 1937, at Iowa City. He was the son of James R. and Ina (Bright) Haverly. Terry graduated from the Anamosa Community Schools in 1956. He served in the United States Army from 1957 until 1959. Terry Haverly and Joan Sienknecht were married June 11, 1960, at Lincoln. They resided in Anamosa, and Terry was employed at the University of Iowa in the Telecommunications Services. He retired from the U of I in 1998. In his retirement, he did phone repair and installed phone systems. He and Joan had spent many winters in south Texas where he enjoyed fishing.
Terry was an avid sports fan, never missing a Hawkeye, Cyclone, Chiefs or Royals game. He had been an outstanding athlete in high school. He was a member of the Anamosa Methodist Church the AMVETS and Wapsi Country Club.
