Engel Meta Hayen Riskels Hedden

MONTICELLO—Funeral services for Engel Meta Hedden, 90, were held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Wayne Zion Lutheran church, rural Monticello. Interment was in the church cemetery.
The Rev. Harvey O. Gilbertson officiated.
Mrs. Hedden died at the Lutheran home in Perry where she had made her home the past seven years. She was born in Jones county, the daughter of John Henry and Christian (Harms) Hayen.
She was married to Henry Rickels May 3, 1900. The couple farmed near Monticello. They were the parents of two sons, Clarence and Elmer. Mr. Rickels died October 22, 1919.
On December 28, 1921, she was married to Henry Hedden. They farmed near Scotch Grove. After Mr. Hedden's death February 6, 1942, Mrs. Hedden made her home in the Monticello area.
Survivors include a son, Elmer of Perry; three step-daughters, Mrs. Fannie Henrichs and Mrs. Arend (Minnie) Balster, Jr., of Scotch Grove and Mrs. Alva (Lena) Zimmerman of Monticello; twelve grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by a brother Herman H. Hayen of Monticello.
Mrs. Hedden was preceded in death by a son, a grandson, a brother and five sisters.
Casketbearers were Robert Stephenson, John Grant, Vernon Doden, Allen Siebels, Henry Hayen and Lawrence Rieken.
