Donald R. Heasty
January 8, 1922–January 20, 2009
Donald Heasty, age 87, of Anamosa died Tuesday evening, January 20, 2009 at the University of Iowa Hospitals following a sudden illness.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 Monday morning, January 26, 2009 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Anamosa with interment in the Wilcox Cemetery, Viola. Friends may call from 4 until 7 Sunday at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa where a parish Vigil service will be held at 7:00.
Surviving is his wife, Katherine, a brother, Robert Heasty, Anamosa and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and infant son Gary, and a sister, Hazel Alexander.
Donald R. Heasty was born January 8, 1922 at Wyoming, Iowa. He was the son of Robert and Dolly (Tebo) Heasty. Don received his early education in Cass Township Schools. He graduated from Anamosa Community schools with the class of 1939. Don then worked as a farm hand for Harold Hartman and later for Calvin Reese. Donald Heasty and Katherine Taber were married June 22, 1944 at St. Ludmilas Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids.
Don was employed by the City of Anamosa before he started working for Goettsch Funeral Home in 1958. Don worked as a funeral assistant for over 50 years and was still an active member of the Goettsch staff until his death. His compassion, humor and wit will be missed by his friends, family and co-workers.
