Robert C. Heasty, age 98 of Anamosa died Monday July 13, 2009 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Services will be 2:00pm Saturday July 18, 2009 at the Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa. Sister Susan Dunnwald will officiate at the service. Friends may call from 4 to 7 pm Friday July 17, 2009 at the Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Wilcox Cemetery in Viola, Iowa. Surviving are his children Lester (Renelda) Heasty of Marion, Cecelia (Terry) Edwards of Hiawatha, Frances (Jack) Carter of Nashua, New Hampshire and Mary Ann (Jack) Clabaugh of Wheat Ridge, Colorado; 12 grand children; and many great and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; His wife Diana in 1998; a brother Donald Heasty; a sister Hazel Alexander; a grandson Scott Lee Walton.
Robert Heasty was born December 12, 1910 in Wyoming, Iowa. He was the son of Robert and Dolly Tebo Heasty. Robert grew up around the Wyoming area and graduated from the Wyoming High School. On July 27, 1936 Robert and Diana Frasher were united in marriage in Anamosa, Iowa. Robert worked as a hired farm hand in his earlier years, and then spent time working for the Martelle Lumber Yard and Elevator. He then started working for Jones County driving a gas truck and hauling heavy machinery; not retiring until 1980. The couple lived in Jones County all of their lives. They enjoyed spending free time driving to friends and relatives homes to help wherever they could. After Diana died Robert continued to live at home in Anamosa by himself until he moved into Silvercrest of Anamosa 4 months ago.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Camp Courageous.
