Robert William Heister

Robert W. Heister, 78, of Wyoming, Iowa, and formerly of Maquoketa, died on Friday, February 24, 2012, at his home in Wyoming, Iowa. Public graveside services and burial celebrating Robert's life were held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 2, 2012, from the Ozark Cemetery, rural Monmouth, Iowa. There was no visitation. The Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa cared for the family.
Robert William Heister was born on February 17, 1934 in Iowa City, Iowa, to Howard William and Velma Winona (Carr) Heister. He was educated in country schools and married Pat DeLarm on September 4, 1954. They later divorced.
Robert had worked various jobs through the years, including working at Clinton Engines in Maquoketa, farming, saw mill operator, running a bulldozer, garbage collection, Cargill in Cedar Rapids for a dozen years and trucking for a short time.
Robert is survived by his children, Rodney (Mona) Heister of Bellevue, and Beverly Koontz of Maquoketa; nine grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; a half-brother, Carl (Shirley) Huffman of Maquoketa, and a special friend, Karen Picray. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Billy, Billy's wife, Anita, a half-sister, Wanda Clark, and a granddaughter, Amanda Marie Heister.
