| Lois Esther Schwartz, 81, of Anamosa, died Thursday April 2, 2009, after an extended illness. Lois was at the Anamosa Care Center, suffering with Alzheimer's disease. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. The Rev. Laurie Riley will officiate at the service. Interment will be at Antioch Cemetery, rural Anamosa.
Surviving are her husband, Wayne, of 61 years; and a daughter, Janice Schwartz of Coralville.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Lois Esther Schwartz was born September 7, 1927, in Anamosa, Iowa. She was the daughter of Esther Ireland and Ralph Holmes. Lois was a graduate and valedictorian of Martelle High School in 1945. On June 15, 1947, Lois and Wayne Schwartz were united in marriage at the United Methodist Church in Anamosa. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Anamosa for more than 64 years. Lois worked for the Maquoketa Valley REC for 15 years.
She will be dearly missed by those closest to her.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the United Methodist Church in Anamosa.
