May Ann Holub Gilmore

May Ann Gilmore, 89, died Sunday, June 3, 2018, at her home, following a sudden illness.
Mass of Christian Burial was held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Anamosa, with interment in the Holy Cross Cemetery. Msgr. Richard Funke officiated at the services. Friends called from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa.
She is survived by four children, Elaine Lint, Donna (Russ) Collier, Richard (Dr. Robin Platenberger-Gilmore) and Dave (Mona) Gilmore; six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a grandson, Brett Goldsmith; a son-in-law, Mike Lint; her twin brother; two sisters; and two brothers.
May Ann Holub was born March 21, 1929, in Prairieburg. She was the daughter of John and Rosie (Fousek) Holub. May Ann received her education in the Anamosa schools. She married Dale Gilmore on June 25, 1948, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Prairieburg. The couple farmed near Anamosa until 1978 when they built a new home in Anamosa. Dale preceded her in death on April 25, 1985. May Ann worked at the Anamosa Care Center as a cook and in the laundry department for many years.
May Ann was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and the Wapsianna Garden Club. She loved to play cards, garden and bake. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and attending all their many events.
