Neva V. Huffman Mead

Neva V. Mead, 97, of Center Junction, Iowa, died Sunday morning, September 2, 2012, at Anamosa Care Center, Anamosa, Iowa.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 5, 2012, at Lahey Funeral Home in Wyoming, with Shepherd Karmen Jamison officiating. Friends called from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Lahey Funeral Home in Wyoming. Burial was in North Madison Pioneer Cemetery, Center Junction, Iowa.
Neva V. Huffman was born October 27, 1914, in Rossville, Iowa to Lee and Gladys (Leas) Huffman. She attended school in Rossville and Waterville. On December 28, 1931, she married James "Joe" Mead in Galena, Illinois. He died on June 26, 1983.
Neva was a homemaker. She enjoyed playing cards and card clubs, was a Chicago Cubs fan, and liked to fish and visit the boats.
She is survived by a daughter, Myrna (Roger) Eggers of Bull Shoals, Arkansas; a son, Donovan "Mike" (Judy) Mead of Center Junction; son-in-law, Charles Foster of Diamondhead, Mississippi; nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson; sisters, June Serbouske of Anamosa and Shirley Straate of Waukon; and a brother, Francis Huffman of Marion.
She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Beverly; parents; brother, Gene Huffman; sisters, Betty Everman and Imogene Montour; sister-in-law, Peg Huffman; and brothers-in-law, Leonard Serbouske, Harvey Montour, and Harry Straate.
