John Ronald "Ron" Hunt
August 17, 1938–August 12, 2012
Ron Hunt, age 73, Scotch Grove, died peacefully Sunday, August 12, 2012 at his home following an extended illness.
Funeral services were held 11:00 Friday morning, August 17, 2012 at St. Johns Lutheran Church rural Monticello with interment in the Oakwood Cemetery. Rev. Reed Stockman officiated at the services. Friends called from 4 until 8 Thursday at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello.
Surviving are his wife, Tina, Scotch Grove, two sons, John of Monticello, Rob (Kristl) of Anamosa, two step-children, Aileen (Mike) Simmons, Doug (Kristy) Black, both of Monticello, a brother, Jim (Cheryl) of Monticello, and a niece and nephew, Kelly Satre and Rich Hunt, nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
John Ronald Hunt was born August 17, 1938 in Ottumwa, Iowa. He was the son of John and Jean (Phillips) Hunt. Ron graduated from McKinley High School, Cedar Rapids with the class of 1957. He continued his education at the Cedar Rapids Barber College.
Ron came to Monticello where he and Marvin Schneider were partners in the Monti Barber Center. Ron was married to Sunni Larson in 1958 and they later divorced. From 1966 until 1968 Ron was involved in Redco Inc. Construction building homes on Hillcrest Drive in Monticello. In 1969 Ron started selling cars for Schoon Motors moving to Freese Motors in 1972.
Ron married Mary Reth Black in 1978. Ron tried a new venture selling logging trailers from 1978 to 1979 before going back to Freese Motors. He retired in 2009.
Ron Hunt and Tina Bradley were married on February 3, 2011 at St. Johns Lutheran Church.
Ron had been a member of the Monticello Lions Club and the Investment Club.
