Alva Louis Husmann
February 28, 1927 – June 29, 2018
Alva Husmann, 91, of Wyoming passed away peacefully on June 29, 2018, at Jones Regional Medical Center in Anamosa.
His funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 7, 2018, at Zion American Lutheran Church in Wyoming. Burial will be held at the Wyoming Cemetery with Military Honors. Lahey & Dawson Funeral Service is assisting the family.
Alva Louis Husmann was born in his home north of Onslow in February 28, 1927, in Iowa to Wilke “Bill” and Elma (Streeper) Husmann. On July 1, 1961, he was united in marriage to Jeannette Rockwell.
Alva was a long time resident of Wyoming where he served on the city council for twenty-eight years. He faithfully and honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a long time member of the Zion American Lutheran Church in Wyoming and American Legion. He worked at Big Bills Feed, construction and for the Iowa DOT. Alva enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Alva is survived by his daughter, Debbie Ellefson of Wyoming; stepsons, Jim Boots of Monticello and Dennis (Maria) Boots of Monticello; step-daughters Cheryl (Lyle) Gullickson of Kansas City, Missouri and Barb (Steve) Burchett of Springfield, Missouri; nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; sisters, Lucille Lund, Helen Christiansen, Velma Jensen, Velda Holloman and Betty Ham; and a brother Ed Husmann.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jeannette; two brothers, Robert and Ernie; a sister, Lois; and son-in-law, Nathan Ellefson.
His family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Jones Regional Medical Center and Monticello Nursing and Rehab for the great care they gave to Alva.
