Gideon Jacoby
May 17, 1841–June 24, 1889
Gideon Jacoby was a son of Joseph and Lydia Runkle Jacoby. He was born in Marion Co., Ohio and was buried at Olin, Iowa. He married June 29, 1864, at Plymouth, Indiana, Sarah C. Griggs, and was a "weaver of carpets."
Gideon enlisted February 13, 1865 at LaPorte, Indiana, as a private in the 155th Indiana Volunteer Infantry, Company B. He served under Captain Orison Wilson. he was honorably discharged August 4, 1865, at North Dover, Delaware.
The family moved to Iowa about 1877-1878. Gideon was a farmer, and a Methodist. He has 10 children, Sylvester, Malissa, Lutisia, Riely, James, Lydia, John, Joseph, Serena and Clarence.
