Deane Eldon James
February 15, 1933–October 31, 2014
Deane Eldon James, 81, passed away October 31, 2014 at the Veteran's Home in Marshalltown, Iowa.
He was born on February 15, 1933 to Cecil and Lucy James in Center Junction, Iowa. He was preceded in death by two infant siblings, William James and Diane James and a brother David James, and sister Cecile Keller. He is survived by sisters Ruth Siebels (Marvin), Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, Onalee Crocker (Norman), Spring Hill, Tennessee, Kathleen James (Kenneth) Olin, Iowa and Susan Nichols (Connie) Cedar Falls.
Deane attended Wyoming High School and completed five semesters at Iowa University before he was hired by Burroughs Typewriter Company to oversee their office supply problems. Subsequently he served for three years in the army and then drove his own big rig as a private trucker. In between two stints driving the truck, he purchased two farms which he alternately farmed and rented out when he was on the road.
Deane had a keen interest in cars, airplanes and motorcycles and he was also an avid reader! After building many airplanes, some motorized he built his own single engine, two passenger plane. He developed an interest in rocks, crystals, and Indian relics during his time on the road traveling coast to coast. He also utilized his travels to visit his siblings at different parts of the country.
Visitation was Monday, November 3, from 10 A.M. at Lahey Funeral home in Wyoming, Iowa with burial following at the Wyoming Cemetery.
