Donald Jensen
June 2, 1938 – October 28, 2017
Donald Jensen, 79, of Olin, passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2017, at the Anamosa Care Center in Anamosa.
His celebration of life will be on Friday, November 3, 2017, from 2 – 4 p.m. at Lahey and Dawson Funeral Services in Olin. Burial at a later date will be held in the Antioch Cemetery, rural Anamosa.
Donald was born on June 2, 1938, in Anamosa to Thomas and Helen (Edwards) Jensen. He graduated from Anamosa High School and then attended the University of Iowa and Iowa State University. In March 1974, he was united in marriage to Velma Husmann in Ottumwa. He farmed and worked at Jensen Quarries. Don was an accountant and prepared taxes for many people. He was an avid reader and enjoyed watching TV, swimming and attending the casino.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Velma, of Olin; four step-children, Judy (Wayne) Potter of Wyoming, Janice Houston of Canton, Marvel (David) Heim of Cascade, and Robert (Deb) Shady of Lawton, Oklahoma; many grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Christine (Chris) Elliott of Vinton; and two brothers, Jerry (Jeanie) Jensen of Anamosa and Rex Jensen of Anamosa.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Tom and Terry; two step-daughters, Jane and Sharon; and a step-great-grandchild.
