Lawrence E. "Shorty" Jensen

Lawrence E. "Shorty" Jensen, 88, of Oxford Junction, Iowa, died Sunday, June 8, 2008, at his home.
A celebration of his life was held on Thursday, June 12, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at Lahey Funeral Home in Wyoming, with Pastor Paul Amlin officiating. Burial was in the Amber Cemetery, Amber, Iowa. Friends called from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lahey Funeral Home in Wyoming. Memorials are preferred.
Lawrence was born n August 27, 1919 in Springville, Iowa, son of Louis and Nancy (Duncan) Jensen. He graduated from Onslow High School.
He married Nelda Engelbarts in June on 1943. She died on December 30, 1980.
Lawrence drove truck for Welty Grain Line in Onslow until his retirement. He liked to fish and spend time with his family. He also enjoyed gardening.
He is survived by 5 children, Jim (Judy) Jensen of Richfield, Minnesota, Edward Jensen of Terre Haute, Indiana, Dana (Becky) Jensen of Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, Robert "Bob" (Lisa) Jensen of Houston, Texas, and Chris (Kyda Riley) Jensen of Amarillo, Texas; and an adopted daughter, Barb Temple of Wisconsin; 22 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Edna (Daryl) Jansen of Onslow.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two daughters, one son, two sisters, Ila Westphal and Minnie Welty, and one brother, Charles Jensen.
