Malvern Arnold John

Malvern A. John, 81, of Oxford Junction passed away on Monday, June 29, 2015 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, Iowa.
His funeral mass was held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oxford Junction. His burial was at Mayflower cemetery with military honors. Lahey Funeral & Cremation Service helped the family with arrangements.
Malvern Arnold John was born on September 10, 1933 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Malvern and Geraldine (Sobotka) John. He graduated from Oxford Junction High School. In 1956 he was united in marriage to Susan Homan in San Diego, California.
Malvern served in the United States Navy and was a member of the American Legion Wapsie Post #473 of Oxford Junction. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oxford Junction. In his earlier years he liked to hunt, fish, and watch sports on TV.
He is survived by his six children; Mark (Glenda) John of Cedar Rapids, Guy (Maria) John of DeWitt, Cindy (Lonnie) Ledvina of DeWitt, Brett John of Oxford Junction, Carla (Dennis) Bair of Davenport, Corrine (Kevin) Hamers of North Liberty; fourteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two brothers; Jim (Barb) John of Marion and Bud (Dora) John of Michigan.
Malvern is preceded in death by his parents and wife.
