Larry L. Jones, 78, of Olin passed away Sunday, September 1, 2013 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
A remembrance service was held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, September 6, 2013 at the Olin Community United Methodist Church in Olin. Friends called on Thursday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Lahey Funeral Home in Olin.
Larry was born on May 23, 1935 in Hale to Clifford and Alvena (Ahrendsen) Jones. He graduated from Olin High School in 1952. He farmed north of Olin and had dairy cows for over thirty-five years.
Larry was a member of the Olin Community United Methodist Church, where he was very involved. He was a former 4-H member and Olin school board member. Larry was on the Jones County ASCS committee for several years as well as a Madison Township trustee. He loved living on the farm and had a great love for animals. He saw the good in everything and everyone. Larry never knew a stranger and enjoyed visiting.
Larry is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Dorothy; their three children, Julie (Brad) Flory of Pella, Jolene (Terry) Crane of Moscow, Randy (Sheri) Jones of Anamosa; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Hilma Wilcox of Florida and JoAnne LeGrand of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Howard.
