Lynn Ray Kasemodel
March 18, 1959 – March 12, 2016
Lynn Ray Kasemodel, 56, of Monticello, Iowa, and formerly of Maquoketa, passed away March 12, 2016 under Hospice care at Mercy Hospice in Hiawatha, Iowa from complications of pneumonia.
Friends and family may gather for “One Last party” in remembrance of Lynn on Saturday, March 19, 2016, from 2 to 4 p.m. in “The Bistro” at the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Cremation has taken place.
Lynn was born March 18, 1959, in Maquoketa, son of Alvin and Delores Kasemodel along with his twin sister LeAnn. He grew up in Maquoketa. Lynn graduated from Maquoketa High school in 1977. Lynn loved his football and wrestling during his school days. Upon graduation he lived briefly in California doing tree trimming until a motorcycle accident caused him to have to return to Maquoketa. Lynn moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and got a job at General Mills.
Lynn bought a Harley motorcycle and enjoyed riding it. He loved going on RAGRRAI and went on the first ride in 1973 while still in school. He also enjoyed attending the 1990 Harley motorcycle rally with a special memory of getting to see a space shuttle launch.
Lynn enjoyed being around his nieces and nephews and teasing them unmercifully.
In 2003 Lynn fell off a bluff while taking a flashlight to some friends who were hunting. He misstepped and fell off a bluff. His injuries from the fall caused him to be a quadriplegic.
Lynn bought a house in Monticello and had it made handicap accessible. With the care of Above & Beyond he was able to live there many years.
Lynn’s love of his life before his accident were his dogs, riding his Harley, water sports including boating, jet skiing and fishing.
Those left to honor Lynn’s memory include two brothers Ronald (Beth) Kasemodel of Maquoketa, and Ed Kasemodel (Diana Costello) of Grand Mound, Iowa; three sisters Susan Nelson of Edgeley, North Dakoda, Lynette (Jim) Adrian of Washington, Iowa, and LeAnn Kasemodel, Maquoketa; many nieces and nephews; and his friends from Above & Beyond. Lynn was preceded in death by his mother Delores in 1994 and father Alvin in 2013, grandparents and brother-in-law Pete Nelson in 2013.
