John Kiburz, Sr.
November 6, 1829 – February 10, 1909
Mr. John Kiburz, Sr., an old resident of the German settlement in Richland township, died at his home, last Sunday evening, February 10th, of pneumonia. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. T. B. Balcar at the German church, yesterday forenoon The funeral was a very large one. The four surviving sons of the deceased acted as pall bearers.
Mr. Kiburz was born in Germany in 1829. He came to America when 18 year old, and settled at Janesville, Wisconsin, where he was married in 1854, to Miss Rundena Nelson. They came to Monticello about 40 years ago, and lived in town uutil 1863, when they moved onto the farm in Richland township which was ever after the home of Mr. Kiburz.
The deceased was always regarded as a good citizen. He is survived by his widow and six children, Nelson, Albert, Dallas, Oliver, Mrs. John Hein and Mrs. Leroy Clark. The widow and the two sons, Dallas and Oliver, occupy the home farm.
