Georgina Ann (Knutsen) Mettler, born August 16, 1940, passed away on August 13, 2018, with peace and grace with her family by her side, after battling cancer. Georgina was a lifelong resident of Anamosa, worked thirty-three years at Rockwell Collins, and owned a local craft shop, BG Crafts. She married Robert (Bob) Mettler on March 30, 1957. Georgina enjoyed crafting, woodcarving, playing games (especially Yahoo), tending to her garden, being a Mission “Winter Texan,” spending quality time with family and friends, and donating her time and skills to children in need. She is remembered as a loving wife, friend, mother and grandmother whose greatest passion was helping others. She had a heart of gold and is dearly missed. Georgina was preceded in death by her parents, George and Irene Knutsen; sisters, Sandee Rickard and Donna Chapman; beloved sons Robert Mettler, Jr., and Michael Mettler; and her precious dog, Keisha. She is survived by her husband, Bob Mettler; sisters, Judy (Jimmie) Walderbach-Feuhrer and Debby (Buzz) Fleming; children, Sharla Sutton, Ruth Ann Mettler and Janet Lemons; grandchildren, Michael (Jenni) Sutton, Paige (Cole) Gabriel, Mitchell (Amanda) Sutton and Stacy (Sean) Harlem; four great-grandchildren; and special friends, Millie Schuman and Janet and Jerry Husmann. The family extends their gratitude to Mercy Hospice and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Georgina chose to donate her body to science; the family welcomes all that knew her to join them in a memorial and celebration of Georgina’s life on Saturday, August 18, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Anamosa at 4:00 p.m., followed by a dinner reception in the Fellowship. Casual dress encouraged. Submitted by: Janet A. Brandt
