 Laurabell Kohl Sigmund
September 19, 1917 – June 13, 2006
Laurabell Kohl Sigmund of Arlington, Wisconsin and formerly of Anamosa was called home to be with the Lord on June 13, 2006 at the Don and Marilyn Anderson Hospicecare Center after a 3 year long struggle with dementia/Alzheimers.
Funeral services will be held 3:30. Saturday June 17th at the First Congregational Church, Anamosa with visitation at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa, Friday from 5 until 7 P.M. Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery, Anamosa.
Laurabell is survived by her son Dennis D. (Barbara) Sigmund of Arlington, WI. Nieces Evelyn M Johnston, Pat McMillen, Betty Denahy, Jeannette Nelson, Velma Magnuson, Wanda Rutan, Alberta Schulista, Jeannie Schmidt, and nephew Darwin Kohl. Special friends Bob and Patty Stanley with whom she spent many hours enjoying their company. She also spent many enjoyable hours with her great grandchildren, Zondra, Adeliah and Christina Tobias.
She was preceded in death by her brothers Earl and Darryl Kohl and sisters Lula Pieper, Gladys Roubinek, Grace Sievers & Vera Von Sprecken, infant brother Alvin and several nieces and nephews.
She was born September 19, 1917 in Anamosa to Charles and Fannie (Andre) Kohl, the last of 8 children. She grew up on a farm near Morley, Iowa. She married Donald F. Sigmund on June 27, 1936. Together, they lived on their farm south of Anamosa for 46 years until he passed away in Feb of 1990.
They were active in the American Legion and Legion Auxillary. She was also an active member of the First Congregational Chuch and helped with many church functions including the fall suppers. She was noted as being a great cook.
The last time when her great grandchildren were visiting her in the hospital, her words were "Have fun and enjoy life!"
