Lois Elaine Koppenhaver Stolte
March 21, 1933 – February 4, 2019
Lois Elaine Stolte, 85, of Martelle, passed away Monday, February 4, 2019, at the Anamosa Care Center following a brief illness.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 7, 2019, at the Martelle United Methodist Church. Rev. Sue-Ellen Sherman will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Mechanicsville. The family greeted friends from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 6, 2019, at the Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa.
Lois Elaine Koppenhaver was born March 21, 1933, in Newport, Iowa, the daughter of D. Everette and Della (Tenley) Koppenhaver. She attended Martelle School. She was a member of the Martelle United Methodist Church, where she served as the co-chair of the Methodist Women for several years.
On October 15, 1950, she married Elmer Stolte at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stanwood. He died in 1995. Together they lived and farmed southeast of Martelle. She enjoyed her family, country, gospel and bluegrass music, and a good joke to make her laugh.
She is survived by her children, Carmen (Daryl) Brennaman of Lisbon, Marlynn (Joseph) Fogg of Tipton, Judy (Craig) Faust of Coggon, Nancy (Richard) Hughes of Vinton, Teresa (Ricky Joe) Conley of Monona and Dale (Sarah) Stolte of Springville; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Donald (Margaret) Koppenhaver of Mount Vernon.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Earnest and Alan; sons-in-law, Kent Woods and Ronald Parker; and sisters, Helen Nielson and Doris Ingels.
